Saturday morning in Santa Fe we had fierce winds, rain, hail and snow…all before noon!
Frost and snow on our window and our neighbor’s truck.
“You know who” stayed tucked in where he was warm and cozy.
Things cleared up in the afternoon and we took a walk around the old town plaza. The plaza is mainly a tourist attraction with various shops, lots of jewelry and artwork and some local vendors selling from their blankets on the sidewalk.
We did visit some of the museums and historic buildings, as well as the shopping. The historic Cathedral of St. Francis is a beautiful building.
Another historic church, The Loretto Chapel, has an amazing staircase. Built in the 1600’s by an anonymous carpenter, it is a spiral made with no nails or central support. Some call it the “Miraculous Stair.” We think it’s just beautiful.
A little hard to see, wind spins the pieces of art in the chapels side yard.
We also enjoyed the historical buildings up and down the streets around the
plaza. To end our walking tour, we went on a hunt for this building…the “oldest
house in the U.S.” At least the west wall of it.
I’m a big fan of Georgia O’Keefe so we visited her Santa Fe museum. It was a very nice presentation of her life with many photos of her. But we were a bit disappointed that there were more photos of Georgia than there were paintings by her. It was still an enjoyable time and we had a lovely afternoon.
“Red sky at night, sailor’s delight.” Expecting a great day tomorrow as we drive to Taos.
Have a great day!

All sounds so lovely. I always try to make it to Loretto Chapel when I go there. And Cafe Pasqual's.
