A Few Days In Page

We left Prescott, headed for Page, on Monday. However, along the way we spent a little unexpected time on the side of the road waiting for help to change a flat tire...grateful for the Good Sam Club.

Once we arrived, we had a great time exploring the area around Page. First up…Antelope Canyon, a slot canyon you can tour only with a Navajo guide. They did a great job escorting us through the canyon and showing us the best photo shots. There’s no way to post all the photos we took…dozens. Here are a few of our favorites. By the way, just click on any photo to get an enlarged view.

The tall, narrow opening of the slot canyon.
The upward view as we entered.

My personal favorite of the photos we took.

The Candle.
Even in the darkest areas, light shone on the walls.

I see a Star Wars guy.

A shaft of sunlight from 100' above.

Rotating the original photo can make some interesting and eerie images. I see a heart and the cowl for some mysterious character.

My second favorite. The reflection of a tumbleweed on a rock in the near total-dark space.

And that’s just a taste of what we saw. Those of you who’ve taken this tour know what I mean.

Later, we visited Glen Canyon Dam. It’s huge and a very impressive operation. We took the tour and learned how important this dam system is to those of us who live in the southwest.

Navajo Bridge...just amazing.

Today we explored Horseshoe Bend. It’s a wonderful example of a “goose-neck in a meander”, as per my college geography classes Smile.  We enjoyed the hike/walk to the overlook (thanks for your recommendation Larry). And the view was fantastic.

The colors in the rocks and water were unreal and changed with every new viewpoint.

RANGO!

Tonight we had dinner with Big John at his famous Texas BBQ…delicious!

Tomorrow we leave this place and the beautiful view from our campground. We’re headed toward Santa Fe and Taos, stopping in Gallup along the way.

Have a beautiful day!
