Jim and I love traveling together and we're really looking forward to hitting the road again. After a short delay for repairs, we left home Thursday, April 30. This time we're headed east and south. Planning each stop as we go,we have no specific itinerary except...high school graduation for Michael Barton in MO!!!
I'll be posting occasional updates along the way and, if you'd like to see them in your email, you can subscribe with the button on this page. Otherwise, you can drop in any time by searching jimandpatontheroadagain.blogspot.com.
We're ready! |
Coco's ready in his Thundershirt (maybe:) |
And, just for fun, Santa and Frosty tag along. |
First stop was Prescott Pines Christian Camp in AZ, where we've enjoyed volunteering with friends, doing whatever we can to help. The men did a great job with various construction projects. Among other things, they put a new roof on one of the cabins, new half-log siding on that same cabin, built an outside staircase for another building, built stacked stone columns for a camp gazebo, and graded the dirt roads in camp.
We ladies sewed bandanas for souvenir stuffed animals that kids like to buy in the camp store, mended teepees, helped with the roofing, cleared the area of debris, leaves and fallen branches for the last of the spring fire burns, and became apprentice masons helping with the stacked stone, and other helpful projects around camp.
The weather's been unseasonably cool and rainy. Today, it just started snowing (only a little)! Maybe some of the last cool weather we'll see on this journey through spring and summer.
This is a great time for us each year. We love the camp, the staff, and the fellowship of friends, old and new. Work and meal times are a great time of laughing, catching up, getting to know each other and sharing our lives together. We ladies, of course, found some time for browsing old town Prescott, lunching together and shopping. Evenings were some of the very best times as we sat around a table playing games after dinner, laughing and snacking as we relaxed from a good day's work.
This is our awesome team: Paul, our boss, project co-ordinator and go-to-town guy. (Along with his first grandson, 2 month old Titus.) Dan and Bev, Don and Donna, Jim and Pat, Al and Margaret, Mike and Denise, Terry and Gail, Daryl and Sharon, Larry and Judy.
Most of us have headed home today. Jim and I will spend the weekend doing laundry, relaxing, shopping and planning the next few days of our journey.
Monday, we head for the awesome beauty of Page, AZ.
Have a great day!
Pat
